The best way to make gold for 1-40

1. It is extremely simple: Mining and Herbalism

Forget about any other crafting job until you have all the gold you want for that mount. Sell everything to the Auction House.

2. DO NOT BUY STUFF OFF THE AUCTION HOUSE

Levels 1-40 are really not even gear dependant and anything that is a really good upgrade can usually be obtained by doing quest... which also give you gold.

3. Combine Leveling and Farming together.

Until you hit level 60 you have no reason to farm mobs that will give you no experience points.

4. Humanoids give a nice amount of money and items.

Level on those any chance you get.

5. Do quest.

You get money, fame and gear for doing them.

Thats pretty much it. There is no awesome mob that you can kill and get a epic drop from on your first kill. There is no secret exploit you need. You should NEVER need to buy, borrow, steal, exploit, cheat, beg, or whatever for gold in this game. Money comes to easy for you in this game. Just play and have fun.
