Quest Guides - Scarlet Monastery

Scarlet Monastery is an instance for both the Horde and the Alliance. The Scarlet Zealots in this instance have wisely chosen to make enemies of both the Horde and the Alliance. As such, it is your job to enter their holy Monastery, and destroy everything in sight. Tough job eh?

Alliance:

Upon venturing into the Scarlet Monastery, one should have two (2) quests as an Alliance character:

• In the name of the Light
  This is a quest line starting in Stormwind. First you must complete Down the Scarlet Path Parts 1 and 2. Completing this will give you the revelation that the scarlet crusade is a band of fanatics that torture humans and undead alike. As such, you must kill Whitemane, Mograine, Herod, and Loksey.

• Mythology of the Titans
  The dwarves would like you to retrieve a book from the Monastery. It is located in the Library (a book in a Library, who would guess!) and contains information about the Titans! Pick up the book inside the instance (its a usable item on the ground).

In summary, there are two quests that take the Alliance into the Scarlet Monastery. The first is a chain "In the name of the Light" which begins in Stormwind. The second is from the Hall of Explorers in Ironforge, and involves retrieving the Mythology of the Titans.

Horde:

Horde characters can gain two quests for the Monastery, but one is not available to the Forsaken.

• Into the Scarlet Monastery
  This is the Horde equivalent to the "In the name of the Light" quest. For this quest, found in the Undercity, you must kill Whitemane, Mograine, Herod, and Loksey. After their deaths, you can report to Varimathras himself.

• Compendium of the Fallen
  Delve deep into the Scarlet Monastery to find the Compendium of the Fallen. Find it, and bring it to Sage Truthseeker in Mulgore. Undead can not recieve this quest.

• Test of Lore
  Search the library (librarys have books? DOH!) for the book of DOOM (no, not really the book of Doom, but I had you going). Return this book to the NPC. Easy as pie. This line begins in Thousand Needles, hops to Stonetalon Mountain, Ashenvale, and finally the Undercity. Nothing like a little world travel, I hope you have Air Miles!

To summarize, the Horde can gain "Into the Scarlet Monastery" (starting in the Undercity), and "Compendium of the Fallen". The Horde can also find "Test of Lore" which will take you into the library to retrive a book. This makes a total of three Horde quests for SM, only two if you are Undead.

Getting to the Scarlet Monastery is easiest for the Horde. Travel to the Undercity and then follow the path into the mountains of northeastern Tirisfal Glades. Who would have known that a group of crazy paladins would want to live in Tirisfal, right by the Undead they want to kill so much!

Alliance members have a longer journey ahead of them. Can you say...ROAD TRIP!?

Travel to Southshore and then walk past Dalaran (go to the farms where you gank Horde lowbies and travel north to the big purple bubble [you can't miss it]). Continue north past Dalaran (the bubble) and swim through the water. Eventually, you will find yourself in a series of small islands, don't slow down, keep going. Further along the path is Silverpine and then finally, Tirisfal Glades. Now you can follow the path (just watch out for guards) to the Scarlet Monastery, past the mountains and lake, beyond Brill. When you find the hung corpses of Undead in the trees, you will know you are in the right place!
